[SOLD OUT] The Galliard String Quartet is excited to perform music from the notable 1995 album "Songs of Lili‘uokalani" along with special guest Raiatea Helm, an internationally renowned, award-winning Hawaiian vocalist.
Join us for an evening of iconic and artful songs by HRH Queen Lili‘uokalani, whose songwriting and love for her people include poignant and powerful works composed during her imprisonment in Iolani Palace after the unlawful overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom. The Queen’s beautiful blend of the deep Hawaiian tradition of haku mele and her western influence of composition are evident in more than 150 songs she wrote during her life. The select songs for this show were beautifully arranged for the Galliard String Quartet by Angel Matias Peña, Robert Cazimero, Byron Yasui, Larry Spivack and John McCreary.
Songs to include Ku‘u Pua I Paoakalani ("My Flower at Paoakalani"), Nani Nā Pua Ko'olau ("Beautiful Flowers of the Ko‘olau") and Ke Aloha O Ka Haku (“The Queen’s Prayer”).

Ka-KAAAAA! This concert is part of the Tiki in Waikiki event. GSQ is proud to provide sultry string sounds to the exotica band The WAITKI 7 at the Hawaii Theatre. Come and hear classics by Martin Denny, Arthur Lyman, Gene Rains, and more!
Lanzilotti’s Sky Gate for ten musicians honors Isamu Noguchi’s Sky Gate, one of the most prominent works of art on the City and County of Honolulu’s Civic Center. The work will be performed outdoors at Lāhainā Noon, a time when the sun is directly overhead and Sky Gate’s shadow projects a perfect ring. Co-commissioned by Leilehua (Anne) Lanzilotti and the Honolulu Mayor’s Office of Culture and the Arts along with Chamber Music Hawai‘i.
